2015
The Faculty of Art at the University of Ostrava, the Czech Republic. During the visit, most contacts with the academics from the Faculty of Art concerned the Department of Graphics and Drawing and the Department of Intermedia. Especially interesting were the classes on experimental graphics taught by the Dean of the Faculty, Marek Sibinsky, PhD and Zbynek Janacek, PhD. The classes were focused on new media which allow for creating digital graphics and virtual spaces and are very inspiring material for video game graphics developers. Also very interesting were the themes strongly inspired by fantasy literature and arts and focused on creating imaginary worlds. This was evident in PhD Eliska Cabalova’s book arts workshop combining great editorial skills in book design with interesting drawings and illustrative graphics showing different types of creatures, hybrids and ghosts, based on the observation of nature and its motives. I observed such didactic methods in Denisa Janska’s animation workshop, which is managed in close co-operation with the QQ Studio. Dates of the studio visit: 5 May – 2 June 2015, financed from the PWP Human Capital Operational Programme. Studio visit supervisor – prof. Zbynek Janacek.
